[DelightRoom Office Tour] Can a Space Be a Product, Too?
ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ DelightRoom has moved to a brand new office! ᐠ( ᐖ )ᐟ♡
This move wasn't just about relocating to a bigger space. Everything started with a single question.
"What kind of space do we want to work in?"
And taking it one step further, we thought:
"Can a space be a product, too?"
⏰ Treating Space Like a Product
DelightRoom is always crafting "experiences"—experiences that naturally seep in without the user even noticing. So, we figured this space where we spend most of our day should reflect that same philosophy.
Not a space that screams for attention, but one that flows naturally without needing an explanation. A place that becomes a focus zone for some, and an idea generator for others. We approached this office from the perspective of a "designed experience."
📍 Sinnonhyeon, DelightRoom's New Base
Born from this vision, DelightRoom's new office is nestled in Kyobo Tower, a major landmark at Sinnonhyeon Station.
Located right in front of Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 8, it offers amazing accessibility via subway and bus. (You don't even need an umbrella on rainy days! ദ്ദി(。•̀ ᗜ<))
The surrounding area is packed with various cafes, restaurants, and cultural spaces, making it a great environment to take a quick breather during work hours.
Perched on the 21st floor, it also overlooks a wide-open panoramic view of Seoul. On a nice day, the sky unfolding outside the window is enough to make you pause your daily rhythm for a moment. ٩( *˙0˙*)۶
Based on the entrance, the DelightRoom office is divided into the workspace on the right, and meeting rooms and lounge areas on the left.
So, shall we start with the first thing you see—the lounge?
🛋️ Lounge — The Temperature of Beginnings
This is the Lounge, the very first space Delighters encounter on their way to work.
Warm brick textures wrap the area, creating a cozy vibe. It's indoors, but it somehow feels like you're in an outdoor space. People take short breaks here or have brief chats to set the flow of their day!
💻 Work Space — A Structure that Respects Rhythm
This is the workspace, where Delighters spend the bulk of their time.
The workspace is designed to be wide open, giving it a natural sense of spaciousness. It’s structured so you can dive deep into work at your own rhythm, yet naturally spark up a conversation when needed. Thanks to this, deep focus and collaboration strike a perfect balance.
🔥 Focus Zone — A Space for Deep Immersion
While working, there are moments when you just need to tune out the noise and lock in. The Focus Zone was built for exactly those times. It provides a quiet environment where Delighters can zero in on their tasks and get deeply immersed without any interruptions.
🗣️ Meeting Room — Where Ideas Gather
Q. What if you need to share a quick thought or have a deep discussion?
A. DelightRoom has a total of 10 meeting rooms ready to go.
To ensure the space doesn't interrupt the flow no matter the meeting style, the rooms are designed with minimal decorative elements, creating an environment purely focused on conversation and thought.
In particular, because DelightRoom is a team with a highly user-centric culture, the names of all the meeting rooms originated from Alarmy user stories!
Paypal Guy · Lifesaver · Rithu · Zhou
These meeting room names come from real stories of Alarmy users.
A user who inspired feature development, a user who called Alarmy a "Lifesaver," a user who actively contributed to translations while using the service, and a user who has cheered Alarmy on for a long time.
We carved these names into our meeting rooms to remember the stories we've shared with Alarmy users.
Autopilot · Bug Bash
These two meeting rooms were newly minted with our office move. "Autopilot" is a name inspired by a client's comment. It captures the value of DARO, which stably guides you to your goal without needing manual operation. "Bug Bash" is an activity where teammates from various roles gather to test the service intensively. It's a name that embodies our collaborative culture of squashing bugs in a short time sprint.
🤝 DelightHall & Morning Lounge — Spaces to Gather Together
This is DelightHall, DelightRoom's town hall space.
Every week, DelightRoom holds a town hall meeting here to share what we've learned and keep our culture of transparent communication going strong.
Equipped with a giant monitor and stair benches, it's set up so everyone can sit comfortably and exchange ideas. This is also where we hold our quarterly workshops, play-shops, and various internal programs.
Right next to DelightHall is the Morning Lounge, where Delighters can eat and chat together.
The Morning Lounge is like a mini cafe stocked with various drinks and snacks. With everything from a fresh breakfast menu to instant cup noodles, you can grab a quick bite without even having to step outside.
It's not just for mornings; during lunchtime, people gather here to eat and naturally strike up conversations.
⚡ Recovery Space — A Place to Recharge Energy
The Power Up Room is DelightRoom's workout space. It's a reflection of our culture that highly values healthy energy! Equipped with a ping-pong table, yoga mats, and various strength-training gears, it's perfect for moving your body and getting a quick refresh.
The ping-pong table, in particular, is one of the most popular spots among Delighters! ദ്ദിᐢ- ̫-ᐢ₎
The Healing Room is a relaxation space where you can release bodily tension. It features massage chairs designed to knead out tight muscles and let you rest comfortably.
Right next to it is the Dreaming Room, our sleeping area. True to its name, it's a space where you can catch some shut-eye to recover your condition. Whenever you need a brief rest during work, you can doze comfortably here.
🏆 Not a Finished Space, but a Well-Made MVP
From the beginning, we never aimed for a perfect final product with this office. In true DelightRoom fashion, we built the space in an agile way.
The current office is closer to a well-made MVP than a finished result. The basic direction and experience are solidly in place, and we plan to polish it bit by bit through actual day-to-day use.
Because we believe space is also a product.
✨ And the Most Important Thing
DelightRoom wanted this space to feel less like a "company" and more like a place where each of us can most comfortably dive into our work. We also hope that one year, even three years down the line, we—the people sharing this space—will be growing even more and having more fun working together than we are now. If we had to express that feeling in one word, it would probably be "smiles."
A space where we work well, grow well, and smile well.
This is the new DelightRoom.
P.S. We also captured a short video of our move-in day. (^╷ ̫ ╷^)ノ❤︎
