How a Delighter’s First Day Begins

For all you prospective Delighters out there, following my previous post 'How DelightRoom's Youngest Intern Crushed a 70:1 Hiring Ratio', I'll be sharing what my first day was like and my journey since joining as a content marketing intern, Jaime!

Overwhelmed by the Warm Welcome

With a pounding heart, the very first thing that caught my eye on my first day was a laptop and monitor neatly set up at my desk. Just seeing the words "Welcome to the team, Jaime!" brought back all the memories of the hard work I put into preparing for my application and interviews.

Our HR manager, Since, carefully set up all my work devices, and the welcome kit she prepared was another touching moment. In particular, seeing the Alarmy merch inside—like fuzzy sleeping socks and a toothbrush—really showed the meticulous care DelightRoom puts into the tiny details of how Delighters start their day.

When I went down to the 12th floor, I saw my name displayed on the biggest screen there. I felt a bit shy but incredibly happy.

After that, I went through onboarding with my teammates. Even if I came across unfamiliar words, there was zero reason to worry! The DelightRoom culture deck explains all the terminology and work processes used here in great detail. Thanks to reading the culture deck thoroughly, I was able to successfully wrap up several onboarding sessions and sprint meetings right on my first day.

DelightRoom: The Legendary Hub of Perks

It wasn’t just my teammates welcoming me as soon as I joined DelightRoom. A delightful welcome lunch was waiting for our team!

I heard that every time a new teammate joins, they visit all the great restaurants around Sinnonhyeon Station one by one to have a good time! Together with my teammates, we sliced into steaks at the Outback Steakhouse right in front of our office until our stomachs were about to burst.
Several Delighters, including my teammates, also bought me delicious snacks and drinks. Discussing work and sharing our daily lives over great food let me fully experience DelightRoom's incredibly warm atmosphere.

DelightRoom spares no support in ensuring all members can manage their stress and health well. One of these efforts is the "Dallaem" service! Four times a week, professional Dallaem massage therapists visit to provide neck, shoulder, and lower back massages during lunchtime. I was shocked by how noticeably refreshed my entire body felt after just one session! I'm now eagerly counting down the days until my next turn.

Beyond that, there are various facilities like a nap room and a gym for Delighters to use comfortably. We often spend our lunch breaks having fun playing table tennis.

Lastly, true to a company that is serious about growth, they generously support members' reading and self-development. We even use the book allowance to run study groups with teammates. I requested a book myself and have been thoroughly enjoying reading it!

Genuine Dedication to Our Users Seen Everywhere

Every meeting room at DelightRoom is named after something related to our users.

I was told these rooms were named to remember the users who shared their special stories with us—like the grandmother who regained her health through Alarmy, the user whose desperate request inspired our Prevent Power Off feature, and even the hardcore user who solved 99 math missions every single morning. Every time I walk into a meeting room, it makes me think deeply about what further actions we can take for our users.

Another reason Alarmy's town hall meetings are so much fun is the "Lamy's Love Letter" session! It’s a time to read through various opinions and reviews sent in by Alarmy users and brainstorm ideas together. It gives us great inspiration to find improvement opportunities in unexpected areas, and it's also a moment where we can feel truly proud, knowing our hard work hasn't been in vain.

DelightRoom: Turning the Startup Ideal into Reality

The biggest difference between DelightRoom and other companies was the office being constantly filled with laughter. It was my first time seeing a company where the laughter never stopped from morning until clock-out time. Everyone was freely voicing their opinions and genuinely enjoying the joy of achievement as they turned those ideas into actual actions. Moreover, I was able to work comfortably among such warm, kind members and naturally engage in fun conversations. Thanks to this, I could immerse myself with full focus when working, and have a blast full of laughter when hanging out with other Delighters.

Also, the sheer execution speed of all our members might just be DelightRoom's biggest strength. Everyone looks for the WHY behind a problem, and once they find the answer, they immediately think about what they can do to solve it. After a lively discussion and once an action plan is set, everyone dives in without hesitation to fulfill their respective responsibilities. Looking back at the meticulous culture-fit screening I experienced during the hiring process, it naturally made sense how so many self-driven people with strong ownership could gather in one place.

Making the Journey Ahead Even More Fun, Like a True Delighter.

I was also able to take the lead and participate in various projects and tasks as soon as I joined. I personally reached out to influencers for Alarmy promotions and managed our official social media in my own way, helping Alarmy communicate more frequently with our users. Moving forward, I want to plan various online and offline promotions, like ambassador programs, to build up Alarmy's fanbase. Plus, I want to step beyond Korea and introduce Alarmy to people overseas who suffer every morning when trying to wake up. Through that process, I'll undoubtedly run into unfamiliar challenges again, and I plan to grow by taking on the challenge of solving those complex problems.
