Running a Service That Truly Changes Users' Lives
Change your mornings with Alarmy
Countless services are being created right now to solve the big and small problems that arise as we go through life. However, among the various ways to solve problems, finding a method that can truly change users' lives, implementing it as a service, and continuously operating it is no easy feat.
Services that are loved by users all have one thing in common: they've drastically changed users' lives by making previously difficult, complex, or cumbersome processes easy and simple, or by offering previously paid services for free.
How do we know if it changed lives?
If phrases like "Karrot it" (a local secondhand app) instead of "Sell it secondhand," or "Toss it" (a local finance app) instead of "Send it to my account!" don't sound unfamiliar at all, then it's safe to say that the existing behavioral patterns in your daily life have already been completely changed.
If a slogan is the expression of a service's mission and vision in a single sentence, a "service that changes users' lives" is born when the value contained in the slogan matches the value the user feels through the service. Many services create slogans with simple yet ambitious and catchy, cool phrases. However, making sure that users can actually experience the value embedded in that awesome slogan through the service is a homework assignment that many services have yet to solve.
We at Alarmy are also fighting hard every single day to grow into a service that changes users' lives, hoping for the day when saying "Alarmy it" instead of "Set an alarm" feels completely natural.
At this point, let's take a look at Alarmy's slogan below.
"Alarmy, transforming me every morning"
"Change your mornings with Alarmy"
This implies that through Alarmy, which reliably wakes you up with various alarm missions, you can discover yourself starting your morning successfully, unlike the past when it was hard to get up.
When we decided on this slogan, the following two factors were considered.
Our desire to be remembered not just as a simple alarm app, but as a wellness app that can improve your lifestyle
Our mission to change users' mornings
Alarmy also put its vision and mission into its slogan. We ambitiously set the slogan, but it was hard to actually feel whether users were truly changing their mornings through Alarmy. In the midst of all this, we got the chance to meet Alarmy users from all over the world through the Alarmy 8th Anniversary Event.
Amazingly, over 3,000 people from around the world sent in videos and messages. Even more surprising was that most of the users who sent videos shared specific stories about how Alarmy had changed their lives.
In the videos, various people from all over the world—including a single mom who woke up with Alarmy's wake-up missions whenever it was tough to get up early while raising a child alone, Liam, a chronic late sleeper who even showed up late to funerals(!) but now always arrives on time, a nursing student who could wake up for constantly shifting practicum schedules and early morning shifts thanks to Alarmy, an office worker who spent their mornings fiercely to build their desired career, and a true Alarmy fanatic who has consistently used Alarmy for 7 years—are telling us how they experienced a reliable wake-up through Alarmy and how their mornings, and furthermore their lives, have changed.
Of course, countless users are telling the exact same stories in other videos that unfortunately couldn't make it into this cut (mostly due to video quality or audio issues).
Watching these user videos, the Alarmy team could genuinely feel, "We are directly making a positive impact on users' lives," and "We are actually changing users' mornings." It was the moment we witnessed with our own eyes the purpose and value of what Delighters work so fiercely for every single day.
Moreover, looking into the heartfelt messages from so many users cheering on the Alarmy team—like "Thank you for making a great product," "I'll keep my subscription all the way to your 9th anniversary," and "Thank you so much to the engineers and everyone at the company"(!)—we could feel users' affection for Alarmy far more deeply than when we encountered it through data or text.
Because of this, we gained the confidence that Alarmy is steadily advancing as a service that changes users' lives.
If you want to receive plenty of love from users worldwide alongside the Alarmy team,
and "truly" make a positive impact on users' lives?
