Take a virtual tour of the DelightRoom office 🙌

On October 9, 2021, DelightRoom moved to a new office.
As Alarmy is growing rapidly, our headcount is increasing quickly too, and we wanted to provide a better environment for DelightRoom's top talent.

I'll introduce in detail where the office is located, how it's structured, and what we've captured in the interior design. 🙋‍♀️

The optimal office location that brings "efficiency" and "growth" to mind

DelightRoom's new office is nestled in a building just a minute away from Sinnonhyeon Station. It's right next to Sinnonhyeon Station's landmark, Kyobo Tower, making it incredibly easy to find. Plus, taking up the top two floors of the building—the 13th and 12th floors—means we can easily enjoy a wide-open rooftop. The 13th floor is fundamentally structured as a workspace, while the 12th floor serves as a lounge area with various uses for the community! With Kyobo Bookstore nearby, growth-hungry Delighters can dash over right away whenever they want to buy a book. 📚

Shall we take a look around the 13th floor first?

As you enter the 13th floor, the company R&D center is on the right, the general workspace is on the left, and further inside, there are large and small meeting rooms.

Spacious and open without feeling stuffy

The total area of our new place is large enough that a typical company could fit about 100 people, but we set the space per person really w~i~d~e so that Delighters wouldn't feel cramped. (Of course, this also reflects our big picture of bringing in m~a~n~y talented people in the future 😎)

An open workspace with an exposed ceiling and widely spaced personal desks

Past the workspace towards the windows is the hot desk zone, where you can catch the most stunning view on the 13th floor. When the weather is clear, you can easily see all the way to Namsan Tower. Naturally, you can work comfortably at your own personal standing desk, but when you need a refresh, just grabbing your laptop and taking a few steps will make you feel like you've arrived at a cafe with a great view. ☕️

User-centric

Reflecting DelightRoom's user-centric culture, all of our meeting room names are entirely related to Alarmy users 🥰

First, DelightRoom's largest 12-person main meeting room, 'Lifesaver', was created thanks to an episode where a user, who was able to avoid missing their medication thanks to Alarmy, called Alarmy a 'Lifesaver'.

A space where you can have meetings while looking at a wonderful Namsan view in the calm atmosphere provided by the toned-down navy color

The second-largest 8-person meeting room, 'Zhou', highlights a toned-down yellow wallpaper. The name 'Zhou' was made to remember a user who helped translate Alarmy into Chinese for over 3 years.

The Zhou meeting room featuring mustard color highlights

Lastly, the 6-person small meeting room 'Paypal guy', which features an attractive, calm burgundy color, was born from an episode where a user who provided continuous feedback and greatly helped launch the Prevent Power Off feature even sent us money via PayPal to express their gratitude.

Spaces perfectly tailored for the Alarmy team

Between Lifesaver and Paypal guy, there is a Pair Coding Room for engineers, and a Time Pressure room where you can independently and comfortably focus on work with partitions and a sofa.

The Pair Coding Room where two people can code together / The picture frame is also cute with a concept of two people facing and talking to each other, isn't it?

With the office relocation, we newly created a Pair Coding Room that didn't exist in the previous office. We prepared it as a separate space to fully leverage the advantage of being able to program while conversing—which is one of the agile development methodologies, 👩‍💻pair programming🧑‍💻—without disturbing others.

A must-have space for a company making an alarm app, the QA Room

Across from the QA Room is the Snooze zone. Snooze means resting for a bit after the alarm goes off before it rings again; as you intensely have meetings and focus on work, the moment you need coffee or snacks comes several times a day, right? 😊 In the Snooze zone, you can take a quick breather with various brands of capsule coffee and unlimited snacks to recharge your sugar levels.

Then shall we head down to the 12th floor?

A culture that values sharing and communication

The space we put the most effort into on the 12th floor is the town hall space. DelightRoom holds a town hall meeting every week to share what we've learned and communicate transparently, so we decided to call this space DelightHall (DelightRoom + Townhall) ✨

DelightHall where the town hall is held every week

In DelightHall, we custom-built and placed a massive 98-inch monitor so that the ever-growing number of Delighters can all see together, along with a stair bench where we can sit casually and exchange opinions. We also host our quarterly OKR R&P workshops here, as well as Playshops and D-Like-That events where we do fun programs together to build fellowship.

So that every meeting can be held in various spaces tailored to its purpose

To the left of the DelightHall space are two other meeting rooms. We arranged more diverse colors and casual furniture than on the 13th floor to create a comfortable vibe. Thus, we usually conduct interviews or external partner meetings here.

99Math, where you can casually chat at a round table

Unsurprisingly, the meeting room names on the 12th floor also contain stories related to users.

DelightRoom's smallest 4-person meeting room, '99math', was created in honor of a slightly maniacal (?) user who woke up by solving as many as 99 math problems for their alarm mission every day. 🥸 It's a name where you can truly feel the user's pure love for Alarmy, right?

Larmy, which is located in a spot with a nice view and mostly used for interviews

Next to 99math is the 'Larmy' meeting room, where you can feel the Alarmy team's true love for our users. 'Larmy' is a term referring to the 60 million Alarmy users worldwide, and it was born this year through a vote by users and the Alarmy team during Alarmy's 8th anniversary event.

Since it's such a precious word, we named the meeting room that boasts the best view in DelightRoom and was painstakingly decorated 🥰 It is also the space we use the most when meeting DelightRoom applicants for interviews.

A space where you can share casual chats or focus on work without needing to book it like a meeting room

Opposite the meeting rooms, there's a makeshift meeting space for casual conversations. The navy and yellow colors blend harmoniously, creating a cafe vibe that's quite different from the hot desk zone on the 13th floor. There are a total of 4 tables, and the innermost space faces the window so there's no stuffiness; since partitions offer a somewhat private feel, it's also the most popular spot among Delighters needing focus. It's a spot only the early bird Delighters who get to work early can claim. 😉

The Alarmy team's lounge taking charge of the morning, Morning Lounge

The Morning Lounge, always stocked with healthy food and light meals as well as a variety of snacks

Heading behind DelightHall, there is the Morning Lounge where Delighters can all gather to eat. If the Snooze zone is where you go to take a quick break while focusing on work on the 13th floor, the Morning Lounge has a fridge and a snack bar stocked with a much wider variety of beverages and snacks. Ranging from a healthy and fresh breakfast to increasingly diverse convenience foods like cup rice and cup noodles, you can easily fill your belly without having to go outside.

The Morning Lounge where about 30 people can eat simultaneously in an open space while enjoying a fantastic view

We designed the Morning Lounge with the vision of everyone enjoying a delicious meal together right behind DelightHall after hosting an event there. With the large 16-person community table centered in the middle, and the individual tables placed behind it, it's a space where over 30 people can easily share a meal and a conversation at the same time. Overall, a lot of wood materials were used, allowing you to dine in a relaxing atmosphere. 🍽

Taking care of Delighters' health as well

To the right of DelightHall, there are spaces for Delighters' health.

Various workout equipment in the Power Up Room

First, the Power Up Room is the exercise room, an essential space at DelightRoom where a culture of valuing health is well-established, and this naming was also borrowed from Alarmy's premium feature, Alarm Power-up~ The ping pong table, where you can refresh when exhausted from work and bond with teammates, is the most popular item in the Power Up Room. We painstakingly built it with yoga mats for stretching stiff bodies, various strength equipment to build muscle, full-length mirrors to check your own muscle growth firsthand, and urethane flooring for shock absorption. 🏋️‍♀️

Massage chairs that coolly relieve muscles and rocking chairs where you can comfortably relax

The Healing Room features massage chairs and rocking chairs. When you work sitting in a chair for long hours, it's easy to get a "turtle neck" and stiff muscles everywhere, and this is a space where you can use a massage chair—great for stiff muscles—in a quiet, private setting. If you find massage chairs uncomfortable, it's also a great spot to simply sit in a rocking chair and heal while looking at a framed picture of a forest or staring out the window.

Across from the Healing Room is the Dreaming Room. As you can feel from the name, it's a nap room where you can have sweet dreams. When highly responsible Delighters—who carry as much responsibility as the autonomy they enjoy—just can't get work done no matter how hard they rack their brains, or when they aren't feeling well, they can catch some sleep here to recover.

The best thing about the Dreaming Room is, above all, that it features a full set of mattress, blanket, pillow, and frame from 'Samgboon-e-il (One Third)', a brand with deep ties to DelightRoom! It's packed tight solely with Samgboon-e-il products—famous for promoting deep sleep—to the point where you could call it a Samgboon-e-il mini showroom.

The Dreaming Room is separated by gender / We gave it a nice touch with framed pictures that offer a sense of comfort!

Not only that, the men's and women's nap rooms are separated, and we made sure to install curtains on every bed so there wouldn't be the slightest discomfort while sleeping. Every Delighter who tried the nap room for the first time since we moved couldn't stop marveling at how incredibly well they slept. 🤭

Wrapping up the virtual tour

How was the DelightRoom office after looking into its every nook and cranny?

Through this office relocation project, DelightRoom has achieved massive environmental growth by creating a space where teammates can enjoy both focus and rest, while weaving Alarmy's identity into every corner. 🔥

We are waiting for those who want to join the Alarmy team—the global #1 morning wellness app—while enjoying efficiency, autonomy, joy, and growth in this great environment!
